How Company, Third Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment
H Company 505th is part of the Historical Unit of Southern California (HUSC). We represent How Company, Third Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, of the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II.
The unit primarily focuses on Operation Husky, Sicily, 1943; where Third Battalion 505th and the regimental HQ defended the landing beaches from the Hermann Göring Division on Biazza Ridge. |
The 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment was one of the first airborne units to see combat in WWII, and was also the only American airborne unit to participate in four combat jumps during the war. The 505th jumped into: Gela, Sicily; Salerno, Italy; Normandy, France; and Groesbeek, Holland. The 505th also participated in the Battle of the Bulge, in Belgium, and were part of the initial occupation force in Germany at the end of the war.
